Campus Conversations: Lost in Meditation

Date: October 26
Time: 5:30-7:00 PM
Location: Cook Hall Lobby
This semester, I am teaching a course on Buddhist Meditation that includes a 5-10 minute meditation session at the beginning of each class, and requires that every student practices a minimum of five minutes of meditation every day of the semester. Preparing for this class forced me to ask a series of not so trivial questions: Can you bring contemplative practice into the classroom? what are the ethical implications of this? what is the goal of such a practice in the context of a college class? What are the possible benefits of it? The goal of this talk is to discuss these questions with the local community and share some of my answers with them.
